President Barack Obama and Republican lawmakers are squaring off over proposed regulations put forward by the Commander in Chief, The Washington Times reported.
A letter was sent by the Obama Administration to Representative John Boehner (R-Ohio) that detailed seven regulations that the President thought should be implemented in the coming months. The proposed rules dealt with restrictions that would be handled by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Transportation, according to the newspaper.
“Before finalizing any of them, we will take account of public comments and concerns and give careful consideration to cost-saving possibilities and alternatives,” the President said in his letter.
Republican leadership has noted that they will fight against the proposed regulations, rules that could cost American companies a significant amount of money due to the cost of compliance for businesses, The Associated Press reported.
Officials from the EPA have countered the Republicans’ arguments, saying that the regulations would help lower healthcare costs, but there may be a more heated debate once the proposals are officially put before legislators, reported the news agency.
